Specialized Orthopedic Care Right in Your Backyard at FCHS

At Faith, orthopedics is about more than mending bones and pain relief. Dr. J. Scott Smith, an orthopedic surgeon, brings advanced orthopedic services to the Faith Community Health System.

A Colorado native, Dr. Smith has an extensive academic background – graduating from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, with a degree in chemical engineering. With a focus on health and medicine, Dr. Smith obtained his medical degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical School and completed his residency and fellowship at UCLA in orthopedic surgery.

“For me, it is not just about helping patients find relief,” Dr. Smith said. “Healthcare is about improving the quality of outcomes and ensuring patients have a great experience in the process.”

How orthopedics can help you

Our skilled orthopedic surgeons specialize in the care of the body’s musculoskeletal system. This includes bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons.

If you or a loved one is experiencing bone or joint pain, we invite you to make an appointment with our orthopedic team. Whether the condition that’s causing you pain occurred naturally, or due to an injury/accident, getting expedient care can not only put an end to your pain, but it may ward off further damage.

Signs you need to see an orthopedist include:

  • Hip or knee pain – you may have a tear, fracture or other damage

  • Joint pain – it could be arthritis or caused by an injury

  • Ongoing neck or back pain – from an accident, fall or something more simple like bending improperly

  • Bone fractures and breaks – these need specialized care as soon as possible

“There is always hope with proper medical care,” Dr. Smith said. “I have found that when you take the time to completely understand a patient’s ailments and any past medical care, there are often new techniques and approaches that can be taken to achieve new outcomes.”
