Hospital Volunteers to Host Reception on April 18
Each day, incredible work takes places at Faith Community Hospital (FCH). From the specialized medical team to compassionate team members, an often overlooked, but important to FCH is the hospital’s team of volunteers.
The Auxiliary began in June 1967 when representatives from 13 women’s clubs and church groups met to discuss how they can further help the community. The dedication of these women over the past few decades, as well as the countless volunteers through the years, have kept the organization viable.
Over the years, volunteers have worked to raise donations to purchase needed furniture and equipment at the hospital. Most recently, the FCH Auxiliary purchase an ice machine for the hospital’s dining room.
“Each year, the women of the Auxiliary continue to prove the importance of their services to help with several initiatives across the hospital,” explained Frank Beaman, CEO of FCH. “Their passion and commitment is invaluable and their contribution to the betterment of our facility is what makes Jacksboro so special.”
According to Janice Morrel, president of the FCH Auxiliary, expanding the organization will be critical as the opening of the new FCH replacement facility nears. New volunteers will have the opportunity to help in a variety of capabilities, including hospital greeters, event organizers, and fundraisers.
“Our need for more volunteers will increase in just a few short months,” Morrel said. “We are looking to welcome new volunteers who can help in a variety of capabilities, including hospital greeters, event organizers, and fundraisers.”
Once the new hospital campus opens, volunteers will take one a new critical role, staffing the gift shop. Morrel explained that the gift shop will be a new fundraising source for the hospital while providing flowers and other get-well knick-knacks for patients.
During National Volunteer Week, April 12-18, FCH Auxiliary will host an informative “Come & Go Tea Party” on Saturday, April 18th to provide information for newcomers interested in learning more about contributing to the Auxiliary. The event is open to males and females of all ages.
General volunteer meetings are held on the 1st Wednesday of each month (with the exception of June, July and August when no meetings are currently conducted) at noon in the hospital conference room. These meetings are an opportunity for members to receive updates regarding hospital projects, plan for upcoming initiatives, and to discuss pending volunteer needs around the hospital and its facilities.
The FCH Volunteer Reception will take place at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 18th at the Concerned Citizens Center, 400 East Pine, in Jacksboro.
