National EMS Week honors the emergency medical professionals serving local communities May 17-23

JACKSBORO, Texas (May 19, 2026) – Faith Community Health System joins communities across the nation in recognizing National EMS Week, May 17-23, and honoring the emergency medical services professionals who respond when patients and families need help most.

The 2026 national theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” reflects the teamwork required in emergency care. From the first call for help to the patient’s arrival at the hospital, EMS professionals work with dispatchers, first responders, law enforcement, firefighters, nurses, physicians and hospital teams to help provide timely care.

For FCHS, EMS Week is an opportunity to recognize the skill, dedication and commitment of the Faith Community Hospital EMS team, which provides emergency response 24 hours a day.

“EMS professionals are often the first medical connection a patient has during an emergency,” said Frank L. Beaman, CEO. “Their ability to respond quickly, assess a situation and begin care can make an important difference for patients and families. We are grateful for their service and proud to recognize them during National EMS Week.”

Faith Community Hospital EMS includes experienced professionals serving across multiple shifts. The team includes Chris Howard, EMT-Paramedic; Jennifer Foxworth, EMT-Paramedic; James Johnson, EMT-Paramedic; Shelby Moss, EMT-Paramedic; Matt McKinney, AEMT-Advanced EMT; Philip Richardson, EMT-Paramedic; Tim Gulbranson, EMT-Paramedic; Walter McFarland, EMT-Basic; Mike Hare, EMT-Paramedic; and Brian Callaghan, EMT-Basic.

The department also relies on PRN personnel who help cover open shifts and support around-the-clock service. These team members are certified at various levels, from EMT-Basics to EMT-Paramedics, and play an important role in helping Faith Community Hospital EMS remain ready to respond. FCHS extends special appreciation to Darrel Brummett, EMT-P; Stephanie Gulbranson, EMT-B; Tom Maahs, EMT-B; Caleb Pond, EMT-P; Michaela Boyd, EMT-P; Sebastian Vela, AEMT; Quentin Reaves, EMT-Paramedic; Joshua Richards, EMT-Paramedic; and Chase Thomas, EMT-Basic, for their service and support.

“Emergency medical services depend on preparation, training and teamwork,” said Kelley Hudson, FCHS EMS Director. “In rural communities, that teamwork is especially important. Our EMS professionals, hospital team and community partners all play an important role in ensuring patients receive critical care when they need it most. I am extremely proud of this group of dedicated medical professionals.”

EMS professionals respond to medical emergencies, injuries, accidents, cardiac events, breathing problems and other urgent situations. Their work may take place in homes, on highways, at community events or in other settings where calm decision-making and medical skill are needed.

As FCHS recognizes National EMS Week, the organization encourages the community to join in thanking the EMS professionals who serve local patients and families.

“To every member of our EMS team, thank you,” Beaman said. “Your work strengthens local health care, supports our communities and helps protect patients in some of life’s most difficult moments.”
